Cinc Sentits

C/Aribau 58

Most reasonably priced of the city’s top-end restaurants, the ‘Five Senses’ should be on everyone’s dining agenda. Globally sourced ingredients, from Danish beef to Australian river salt, have been placed together in uplifting combinations, cooked with meticulous precision and served in elegant but unstuffy surroundings. Lamb cutlets with a porcini crust are inspired, but crisp suckling pig with apple and a Priorat reduction is superb. To finish, try the artesanal Catalan cheese pairings or the officially unfinishable trio of chocolate ganaches. Suggested wine pairings are impeccable throughout.

Couldn't quite live up to our high expectations. We had the tasting menu - it was good, but not extraordinary. We had hoped for a more innovative kitchen, but the dishes were quite traditional (except for the famous maple syrup starter) some of them, however, with a modern touch. We had the accompanying wine menu, and the cheap version that we went for was very good value at 30 Euros for 6 well chosen glasses. Posted on May 24 2008 20:22

I have been going to Cinc Sentits since it's opening and have never been disappointed. The seasonal tasting menu is always exceptional and the service is impeccable. Amelia is a wonderful host and her enthusiasm and knowledge of wines is infectious.
To address those people who say that they left hungry, I have to say that I leave every single time totally stuffed. I usually have to have a meal tailored down because the 8 courses are too much. They must be used to American sized portions instead of European plates.
I highly highly recommend Cinc Sentits to anyone who is travelling to Barcelona. The quality of the food and service is well worth it - and I find it to be an exceptional value. You won't be disappointed (unless you are a greedy, tasteless fool). Posted on Apr 07 2008 13:05

Oh my… It was such a disappointment! After all the fantastic reviews on the specialized sites, I was convinced Cinc Sentits would be the best place to take my boyfriend out for dinner on his birthday, especially since he’s a fan of tasting menus, our favourites being Foliage at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel and Spoons at the Sanderson Hotel both in London. I had to book a week in advance and hoped that it would be one of the highlights of our 5 day trip.
As I walked into the restaurant, I thought there was not much ‘cadre’. It was a long corridor with tables on each side, nicely decorated but still just a corridor…
The Sensations Menu: The first part was really nice, soup, foie gras and the scallop. The second part of the meal was not so exciting, the main was alright but barely touched the desserts, one was very salty with oil, and the other was screaming with lemon taste.
But my real problem was the portions. We hoped the main would be somewhat substantial since we were here for a meal, not just tasting. But the portions remained tiny and if it weren’t for the bread, we would have starved! I find this totally unacceptable. Of all our gourmet experiences, we never left the restaurant feeling hungry. At 65 euros per person, food only, taxes excluded, I felt it was a rip off. I wish I had saved my 200 euros on a menu that fills both the stomach and the soul! Posted on Feb 29 2008 11:54

the food was good and the setting was elegant. We chose the 8 course taster menu. However, we chose the wine pairings option and felt we were ripped off with wines that were sub standard. We felt that the restaraunt added in a lot of expenses to make for an ultimately extortionately priced meal. A pity, as it leaves a sour taste that lasts longer than the lemon curd with our dessert. I was surprised they didnt charge to check our coats. A taster meal for 2 cost us 250 euros. ouch! I'm not sure these prices are justified!!! Posted on Dec 07 2007 11:28

This was our very first meal in our first visit to Barcelona - WOW!!
Had the 8-course tasting menu with wine, we would say this has been the best dining experience ever. The food/wine combinations were superb and all the staff went into great detail explaining how the tastes and flavours of the food & wine were wholey meant to compliment - and they did! Loved Barcelona, can't wait to go back and CS will be at the top of our list. Make sure to book ahead or you will be disappointed. If we can't get a table at the time of our next planned visit, we will change the weekend! Posted on Nov 06 2007 18:18

Absolutely Fantastic! You must try the Suprice Meal. One of the best restaurants I've been too. Great service too. Posted on Aug 24 2007 10:30

Brilliant. Every dish was multilayered and textured, thoughtfully conceived, true to Catalan roots but fresh and modern, and most of all delicious. The owners are delightfully passionate about their little project, and free from attitude. Reserve well in advance. Posted on Jul 12 2007 01:16

Pricey yes but compared to the other once it is like they say here, the best value. My recommendation is to catch it for lunch. We went and were the only ones in the dining room. We received amazingly attentive and helpful service that is so very foreign to BCN. The tasting menu is fantastic if you can afford the splurge. It was like 6 months ago so I don't remember specific dishes. Really one of my favorite restaurants in BCN.... Posted on Apr 14 2007 17:41
