Sala Apolo

C/Nou de la Rambla 113

This 1940s dancehall is a curious and rather musty backdrop for some eclectic alternative music programming. Local bands and international groups from Lee Scratch Perry to Gotan Project play from Thursday to Saturday (be warned, the sound system is not what it might be) before the club sessions kick off the night proper. Wednesday’s Canibal Sound System night stretches the term Latin music to include hip hop and funk. Thursday is funk night in the Powder Room. Friday and Saturday’s Nitsa Club is an elder statesman of city’s techno scene.

    Hey check this out!
The magazine Pilote Urbain, the website OnVibes.com and the cultural asociation La K-RaBarna are organizing a gig night at Sala Apolo with a very special guest, the incredible FISHBONE.
Fishbone first gained attention with their unique live concerts, earning a reputation as one of the most original bands in the alternative genre.Fishbone are famous for being one of the most diversified alternative rock bands, a hybrid fusion frenetic ska beat that fuel’s the alternative thrust of Red Hot Chili Peppers. Their unique stew of different styles, mixed with hectic energy and pounding rhythms, were a huge influence on the funk/rock/metal/rap genre that would become popular in the 1990s
Fishbone went on a world tour with the Beastie Boys and is definitely THE band to see live.
Book online for only 12€ at:
    www.piloteurbain.com ; http://www.atrapalo.com; www.sala-apolo.com
also available at: Bares : Mariatchi (C/Codols, BCN) ; Bar Bahia (Pza Georges Orwells, Bcn)
    15€ on the night

The Wednesday night must be one of the busiest nights in Europe with 800-100 mainly young Catalans getting very drunk to Ska, Latin, Mestizo, Gypsy music and Drum and Bass. Great session Posted on Jan 18 2007 19:27
