Each spring and fall, thousands of volunteers flock to over 150 neighborhood parks throughout the five boroughs to help restore and preserve their community's local green space and recreation areas, all while having fun and building neighborhood connections.
Come out to your local field on October 25 and celebrate by participating in clean up and planting projects, and enjoy free cultural events all while getting outside to enjoy their park. Local community groups, neighborhood organizations, and City Parks Foundation offered special events as well, ranging from puppet shows, to face painting, to hiking and fitness opportunities.

Come See Brooklyn’s Finest Artworks at art in Free Fall
From September 13 to October 23, more than 300 painters, sculptors, printmakers, and photographers, both emerging and established, display over 1200 pieces of their work at art in Free Fall, presented by the Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition. Free Fall features the work of four artists: the studio collaboration between partners Ellie Winberg and Mauricio Morillas and married artists Thomas and Anna Hagen.
There will be tons of other fun activities going on to insure that there’s something for everyone. Don’t miss the popular saxophone quartet Charley Gerard and Broken Reed performing at 3pm, and Mike Park’s New Vision Cinema series, showcasing recent works by independent filmmakers on September 27, and the Def Jam Dance Workshop September 28. In conjunction with the art show is the Brooklyn Crafts Festival, an outdoor crafts fair along the waterfront esplanade.
