Nightlife

While the smart new marina has no shortage of drinking spots, it’s the old quarter near the cathedral that draws the crowds, with its raucous bars, many of which stay open until 4am at the weekends. The heaving, wood-panelled Havana Café (Rambla Méndez Núñez 26, 965 216 926) is most famous, while in summer revellers pack out the terrace at Desafinado (C/Santo Tomás 6, 965 142 671, closed Mon). For house and techno until breakfast, Alicante’s beautiful people head to Z Klub (C/Coloma 3, 965 980 136).
