Hotels

Note that all overnight stays incur a Resort Tax of €2.80 due to Baden-Baden’s special status as one of Germany’s premier tourist attractions – but you do get discounts for local events. The tourist office (see above) can book rooms at no additional charge; ask about special weekend offers that include entrance to the spas. The most luxurious is Brenner’s Park Hotel & Spa (Schillerstrasse 4-6, 9000, www.brenners.com, €260-€545), originally called Stephanienbad after Napoleon’s adopted daughter, Stephanie of Baden. In its prime, in the early 1900s, it hosted visitors such as Henry Ford, Otto von Bismarck and the King of Siam. Completely renovated, today it’s still seriously posh. The mid-range Haus Reichert (Sophienstrasse 4, 9080, www.hotelhausreichert.com, €95-€120) is a centrally located spa hotel, while the cheaper Am Markt (Marktplatz 18, 27040, €62-€80) is a cosy and friendly family-run inn.
