The biggest event in the local calendar is the Aste Naguia, the Semana Grande (‘big week’) of Basque games; races start on the first Saturday after 15 August. The other major public event is the grand procession on Easter Sunday. In November, look out for the month-long festival of puppetry in venues in and around the Plaza Moyúa, a series of classical music concerts in the seaside suburb of Getxo and a festival of 21st-century music in town.
