Seasonal Girona

The liveliest time to visit Girona is mid May, for the week-long Temps de Flors, when the streets are carpeted with blooms, and floral sculpture abounds. In September there is an excellent jazz festival (www.gna.es/jazz) and in October is the annual film festival, specialising in Jewish film. Also in October is the Fires de Sant Narcis. St Narcissus is the city’s patron saint and his feast day, on 29 October, is celebrated with a week-long knees-up of street parties, concerts, human castles and fireworks.
