St Pauli is the heart of nightlife, mainly around Reeperbahn and Grosse Freiheit. Above the famous cabaret Schmidt’s Tivoli, you can dance to soul singers at Angie’s (Spielbudenplatz 27-28, 3177 8811), while Meanie Bar (Spielbudenplatz 5, 319 6087, www.meaniebar.de) has DJs and live acts, and there’s a larger music venue downstairs called Molotow (Hamburger Berg 12-13, 430 1110, www.molotowclub.com).
