A side trip to the Everglades and Florida Keys is feasible, affordable and memorable. These are places untouched by neon lights and Gap stores and are the few remaining areas in the state vaguely reminiscent of Old Florida. Or, if you prefer to avoid the cattle call of tourism, rent a car, get a map and explore on your own. You won’t regret it.
