Nightlife

Oh my, where to begin? Surely you’re tired of hearing how South Beach is a nocturnal shopping mall if you’re into dance clubs, bars and swank lounges? But it’s still true. The hottest spots du jour are Skybar) (Shore Club Hotel, 1901 Collins Avenue, FL 33139, +13056953100, www.shoreclub.com) (see Top 5, Mynt Ultra Lounge (1921 Collins Avenue, FL 33139, +17862766132, www.myntlounge.com), Crobar (1234 Washington Avenue, FL 33139, +13056728084) and Opium Gardens (136 Collins Avenue, FL 33139, +13055315535). The latter two are dance clubs, the former two are places at which to strike very expensive poses. Good luck getting past the velvet ropes at all of them, however.

Over the causeway in the Design District is the equally oppressive Grass Lounge and Restaurant (12 NE 40th Street, FL 33137, +13055735003), a haven from the South Beach snootiness and an introduction to the Design District’s own brand of hoity-toity. And for dance fanatics who worship the likes of Paul Oakenfold and co, Club Space (34 NE 11th Street, FL 33132, +13053501956, www.clubspace.com) is trance heaven with a 24-hour liquor license.
