Nightlife

A number of the hotel bars and restaurants have live music, disco and karaoke nights (check ahead) including Harry's Bar, Grand Regency (Loita Street, +25420211199); Jockey Pub, Hilton Hotel (Mama Ngina Street, +25420250000); and the Safari Bar, Hotel Intercontinental (City Hall Way). Carnivore (see Eating and Drinking) also has great live music.

Away from the hotels, Simmers (Kenyatta Avenue/Muindi Mbingu Street, +25420217659) is a loud, crowded pub-restaurant with traditional African food and live bands most days. The Pavement, (Westview Centre, Ring Road, Westlands, +254204441711/+254204442357), offers a choice of cuisines, a busy bar and disco, with live music and theme nights. Florida Night Club (Commerce House, +25420217269), is a popular club with reggae and soul nights, and is also a thriving commercial pickup point, so be careful what you are getting into.
